ARED Mobility Edge

Turn vehicles into managed digital service platforms.

Run passenger Wi-Fi, local content, supported applications and selected processing on the vehicle, while centralized systems continue to support reporting, synchronization and fleet-wide operations.

What Changes With ARED

Simplify. Keep operating. Expand.

The technology stays behind the customer outcome.

Simplify

A repeatable vehicle edge layer

Standardize local networking, applications, storage and selected processing on one managed platform instead of adding a new appliance for every idea.

Keep operating

Local passenger services

Approved local applications, Wi-Fi and cached content can continue at the vehicle even when the mobile connection is interrupted.

Expand

Make future services software-led

Once the edge platform is validated, additional compatible camera, sensor or intelligence services can be added in phases.

How It Works

Keep the right work local. Synchronize what needs to be centralized.

ARED is hybrid by design. Local-first does not mean cloud-free.

Input / environment

Vehicle devices & passengers

Cameras, GPS, sensors, passenger devices and other approved interfaces create or consume local data.

At the location

ARED Edge Gateway

Provides local networking, content, applications, storage and selected processing on the vehicle.

When needed

Fleet / data center

Receives the information needed for dashboards, backup, history, fleet-wide analysis and central policies.

Mobility Services

Start with the simplest high-value vehicle services.

The first deployment should stay focused. Camera AI and sensor intelligence should be separate validation phases unless specifically selected.

01

Passenger Wi-Fi

Provide managed local access and passenger-facing services on the vehicle.

02

Offline Content & Advertising

Serve approved content locally so the same files do not need to be repeatedly downloaded over cellular networks.

03

Local Applications

Run supported route, information, service or operational applications close to passengers and staff.

04

Synchronization

Send required health, events, analytics and selected information centrally when connectivity is available.

05

Camera Intelligence — Later Phase

Connect compatible existing cameras and validate selected video use cases after the basic platform is proven.

06

Sensor / GPS Integration — Later Phase

Read approved interfaces where available and combine vehicle context with local or fleet-level analytics.

One Expandable Platform

Start with one need. Add more supported services later.

ARED is designed so the installed edge layer can support additional services over time, subject to gateway capacity, compatibility and deployment design.

1
Start

Prove Wi-Fi, local content or one agreed application plus synchronization.

2
Add

Validate one camera or sensor use case without expanding the entire first deployment.

3
Scale

Standardize the proven architecture across the fleet and connect edge nodes to central systems.

Best Fit

Where this solution makes sense.

01

Bus Operators

Passenger Wi-Fi, local content, applications and staged intelligence.

02

Fleet Operators

Standardize local infrastructure across distributed vehicles.

03

Public Transport Programs

Use edge + central infrastructure with clear data governance and auditability.

04

Mobility Technology Partners

Deploy software or services on a managed vehicle edge layer.

Clear Scope

What ARED manages — and what may remain separate.

ARED Managed Layer

  • ARED edge gateway and managed platform
  • Local applications included in the agreed scope
  • Local storage/processing sized to the use case
  • Remote monitoring and platform updates
  • Secure synchronization interfaces
  • Technical escalation for the ARED layer

May Be Separate

  • Vehicle cameras, GPS and external sensors
  • SIM/mobile data service
  • Vehicle-specific installation hardware and cabling
  • Central fleet software not provided by ARED
  • Safety-critical vehicle controls
  • Additional data-center capacity where required
Phased Validation

Prove the simple platform before adding every future idea.

ARED's mobility work separates the first proof from later camera and sensor intelligence. That keeps the business case measurable and prevents an oversized POC.

Recommended first phase

Wi-Fi, offline content or advertising, synchronization and agreed basic analytics. Camera AI, sensor intelligence and any NVR replacement should follow only after compatibility, storage and operational requirements are validated.

Commercial Model

Mobility pricing requires a fleet workshop.

Pricing depends on vehicle count, gateway profile, connectivity, installation, storage, application scope, support and any camera or sensor integration. The production business case should use the operator's real data and infrastructure costs.

Request an Assessment

Start with one vehicle use case that can be measured.

We will map the onboard workflow, what should remain local, what must reach the central system and how to validate the first deployment.

ARED deploys directly in Rwanda. Outside Rwanda, deployments are partner-led. See the Partner Program.
